Nat Ma Taung (Mt. Victoria) is the highest mountain in the Chin state of western Myanmar and the third highest mountain in Myanmar. It is located in 3 townships – Kanpatlet, Mindat and Matupi. There are Chin tribe villages/Chin tribe women wear attractive amber necklaces with tattooed faces and trekking on Mt. Victoria a height of 3,053 meters (10,016 ft) above sea level. This is the best place for hiking to environ villages to see not only the village life and bird watching but also some rare flowers found on its summit. Mt. Victoria is also known as "Khaw Nu Som" in Chin language, meaning "Mount of Mother Land".

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL YANGON (transfer + sightseeing)

On arrival at Yangon International Airport, you are welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After refreshment, you embark on a city tour including:

(1) Explore Downtown Yangon with a visit around Sule Pagoda which is located at the heart of the city and proceed to a range of beautiful colonial style buildings such as the City Hall, the High Court, former Immigration Offices and the Independence Monument in the green Mahabandoola Park. Afterwards, walk up to the Central Post Office at Pansodan Street which is one of the famous Yangon’s most impressive colonial buildings and have a look at busy life of Pansodan Jetty on Yangon River. Then, take a short tea break at Strand Hotel by own account.

(2) Chauk-htat-kyi Phaya; a huge life-like reclining Buddha statue surrounded by Buddhist monasteries.

(3) Karaweik Hall; marvel at the uniquely decorated “hamsa-bird-shaped” floating barge on Kandawgyi royal lake with a great view of Shwedagon Pagoda.

(4) A visit to the magnificent and world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, known for its religious significance and artistic beauty. The massive bell shaped stupa is plated with gold and the tip of the stupa is set with diamonds and rubies, sapphires and topaz - a stunning sight as the sun sets and an unforgettable place to begin your trip in the "Golden Land". DAY 2: YANGON-BAGAN (by flight) (transfer + sightseeing)

After breakfast at hotel you are transferred to Yangon international airport for an internal flight to Nyaung U/Bagan. Upon arrival, begin the days’ tour with:

 
(1) A morning visit to the interesting local Nyaung Oo Market where you can buy some cotton clothing or local woven fabrics and souvenirs.
 

(2) Shwe-Zi-Gon; completed in 1084, noted for its glazed plaques depicting scenes from the Jatakas, the prototype of later Myanmar stupas.

(3) Wet-kyi-Inn Gubyaukgyi Temple with its exquisite mural paintings of 13th century

(4) The majestic HtilominloTemple; built in 1211 AD and one of the largest temples, noted for its fine plaster carvings on the arch pediments and friezes.

(5) In the afternoon we proceed to lacquer ware workshops to learn about the fascinating technique of this art.

(6) Ananda Temple, 1090AD, a masterpiece of early period temple-architecture with four huge standing Buddha Images.

(7) Dhamayangyi Temple; the biggest and finest brickworks temple in Bagan.

(8) Manuha Temple built by exile King Manuha (a captured king's impression of life in prison)

(9) Nam Phaya an earliest masterpiece with its fine stone carvings and enjoy a spectacular sunset from a suitable temple/pagoda. Overnight at the hotel in Bagan.

DAY 3: BAGAN-KAN PET LET (by 4x4 Jeep)

After breakfast at hotel, depart from Bagan by road to Kan Pat Let. It will take approximately 8 hours by 4 x 4 Jeep. On the way, stop for a while at Chauk which is one of the original oil fields of BOC (UK), with "nodding donkeys" (oil-well pumps) still extracting oils nowadays. Then, cross Ayeyarwaddy River on the Anawyahta Bridge and proceed to a small town Seik Phyu, from where the road will turn from a tarmac to an earthen dusty road. In the evening, arrive at Kan Pat Let, one of the very beautiful and peaceful hill stations. Overnight at the hotel in Kan Pat Let.

DAY 4: KAN PET LET-NATMA TAUNG-KAN PET LET (trekking to the summit of Mt. Victoria)

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel, take a short drive to the forest base camp, 5700 feet above sea level, and trail behind your guide on a steep footpath for 5 km in the National Park. This beautiful park covers a large area with bamboo patches, rhododendron, oak, pine and other evergreen trees. This National Park is the habitat of diverse bird species.

 

Then, start to trek to summit of the Mt. Victoria for 4 hours. It will be a trek up into the evergreen forest. On the way, see rare butterflies and birds also Sitta Victoria white browned nuthatch, is found only in mountain forest of Mt. Victoria, the highest peak in Chin Hills. The national park is an area of great bio-diversity with many rare forms of flora and fauna. When you reach the summit 10,200 feet above sea level, you will be rewarded with the 360˙ magnificent view of the Chin Hills. Mt. Victoria offers superb views of the surrounding area from the top. Return back to Kan Pat Let and stay overnight at the hotel in Kan Pet Let.

DAY 5: KAN PET LET-MIN DAT (Chin Villages Excursion)

After breakfast at hotel, drive to Mindat about 40 miles which is located on 4,860 feet above sea level. Upon arrival, trek to Chin Villages around Mindat, where you can observe Chin Hill Tribes and the traditional way of living. You may have the chance to see the famous Chin-women with tattooed faces, a fading tradition. Then you are transferred to hotel and stay overnight at the hotel in Mindat.

DAY 6: MIN DAT-BAGAN (by 4x4 Jeep)

After breakfast at hotel, depart from Mindat and drive to Bagan by passing through a number of villages on the way. You can see and enjoy some villages to observe the people ways of their life. It will take approximately 8 hours drive by 4 x 4 Jeep and arrive to Bagan before sunset. Stay overnight at the hotel in Bagan.

DAY 7: BAGAN-YANGON (OR) MANDALAY (OR) HEHO (by flight)
