Mrauk U, another of Myanmar’s premier archeological sites is reached by boat from Sittwe. Once the capital of a powerful Rakhine Kingdom, the ruins of the old palace and the remains of the city walls are interesting places to visit. There is also the massive Shit-thaung Pagoda which was built by King Minbin in 1535. Inside the shrine the walls are engraved with over 1000 Buddhist figures. Afterwards, we enjoy one of the most unspoilt and uncrowded beaches in the world-Ngapali Beach on the Bay of Bengal. On this tour, we present to you the best of classic tour in Myanmar. DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL YANGON (transfer + sightseeing)

On arrival at Yangon International Airport, you are welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After refreshment, you embark on a city tour including:

(1) Explore Downtown Yangon with a visit around Sule Pagoda which is located at the heart of the city and proceed to a range of beautiful colonial style buildings such as the City Hall, the High Court, former Immigration Offices and the Independence Monument in the green Mahabandoola Park. Afterwards, walk up to the Central Post Office at Pansodan Street which is famous for some of Yangon’s most impressive colonial buildings and have a look at busy life of Pansodan Jetty on Yangon River. Take a short tea break at Strand Hotel by own account.

(2) Chauk-htat-kyi Phaya; a huge life-like reclining Buddha statue surrounded by Buddhist monasteries.

(3) Karaweik Hall; marvel at the uniquely decorated “hamsa-bird-shaped” floating barge on Kandawgyi royal lake with a great view of Shwedagon Pagoda.

(4) A visit to the magnificent and world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, known for its religious significance and artistic beauty. The massive bell shaped stupa is plated with gold and the tip of the stupa is set with diamonds and rubies, sapphires and topaz - a stunning sight as the sun sets and an unforgettable place to begin your trip in the "Golden Land". DAY 2: YANGON-SITTWE (by flight) – MRAUK U (by boat)

After breakfast at hotel you are transferred to Yangon International Airport for an internal flight to Sittwe. It will take 1 hour over the jungle mountain to Sittwe which is the capital of Rakhine state, near Bay of Bengal. Upon arrival Sittwe airport, transferred to the Jetty where you will enjoy your pleasant boat trip to Mrauk U, open air breath taking trip by simple wooden boat. It will take 5 to 6 hours depending on the water level of Kaladan River. On arrival at Mrauk U, you are transferred to hotel and overnight at the hotel in Mrauk U.'

DAY 3: MRAUK U (full day sightseeing)

Enjoy breakfast at hotel you start Mrauk U full day sightseeing tour including:

 

(1) Koe Thaung Temple or temple of 90,000 Buddha images
(2) Shitaung Temple, the temple of 80000 Buddha images
(3) Htokekanthein Temple, built by King Minphalaung in 1571 A.D
(4) Andawthein Temple, Yadanapone Pagoda, Laymyatnar Temple
(5) Archeological Museum & Palace site and The Five Manaung Pagodas, built by a series of Rakhine kings as astro-magical contrivances in Mrauk U period
(6) Paysi Paya and visit a village of traditional fan production
(7) Harri Taung hill to enjoy sunset over the plain

DAY 4: MRAUK U (ENVIRON CHIN VILLAGES)

After breakfast at hotel you are transferred to jetty for a boat trip to beautiful face tattooed Chin villages. It will take 2 or 3 hours depending on the water level of Lay Myo River. You will see colorful paddy fields and panoramic view on the way. Villages are hidden under the trees of lemon, mango, lychee, etc… Farms of corn, peanut, water melon are on the alluvial soil of the river bank. Banana and bamboo plants are scattered the mountains. Upon arrival villages, you can see some women with traditional tattooed faces and observe ways of life of Chin ethnic. After having a nice time with very sweet face tattooed Chin community along the up region of Lay Mro river, return boat trip to Mrauk U at noon (around 3:00 pm) (with free service of seasonal fruits, drinking water, coffee, tea, on board). DAY 5: MRAUK U-SITTWE (by flight)

After Enjoy your breakfast at hotel you are transferred to jetty for a boat trip to Sittwe by the same route with the same simple wooden boat. After a few hours (5 hrs) on the Kaladan River enjoying the grandiose expanse of this fluvial landscape, arrive to Sittwe (also known as Akyab), is the capital of Rakhine State. It is a port town and situated in the northern end of the state at the mouth of the Kaladan River. Sittwe is the gateway to the archaeological site of Mrauk U and however, Sittwe itself also has a number of interesting old pagodas and monasteries. Upon arrival Sittwe, transfer to hotel. After refreshment, visit the highlights of this seaside town (half day sightseeing) as below;

(1) Mahakuthala Buddha Museum: The most extensive collection of Rakhine-style Buddha images. The museum houses a grand, century-old British colonial mansion, collections of arts, bronze, notes and antique old coins from the Mrauk U and other ancient periods.
 
(2) The Kya Muni Temple: One of the highlights of this seaside town is the big sitting Buddha image. This is located in the same area with U Ye Kyaw Thu Monastery.
 
(3) Fishing Port & Fishing Village: The fishing port is one of the largest and the centre of trading of marine products in Rakhine and in Myanmar, as well. Then, it is a very interesting market place to observe and study not only variety of tropical fishes and other species, but also local fishing systems and life style of the people.
 
(4) View Point & Sittwe Beach: The view point is the loveliest recreational spot in this sea-side town of Sittwe that generously serves anyone from various directions of the world with a wonderful panoramic view of sunset over the Bay of Bengal. Overnight at hotel in Sittwe.

DAY 6: SITTWE-THANDWE-NGAPALI BEACH (by flight)

After breakfast at hotel, (if time allows) you visit to a famous morning fish market in Sittwe and you are transferred to Sittwe airport for a flight to Thandwe/Ngapali Beach. Ngapali Beach is one of the most unspoilt and uncrowded beaches in the world. It is located on the Bay of Bengal coast and 7 km (4 miles) far from the town of Thandwe (Sandoway) in Rakhine State. The beach stretches for 3 km (2 miles) of beautiful white sand and palm tree-lined coast which is spread out with a number of resorts next to the traditional fishing villages.

The local fishing industry still operates at the beach. You can see the boats out on the water at night and watch the fishermen about their work during the day. There are also several nearby villages that can be reached and explored by bike or foot. Upon arrival Thandwe Airport, you are welcomed by our tour coordinator of Ngapali Beach hotel and transferred to the hotel in Ngapali Beach. The rest time is at leisure on the beach.
